@Adstar What about those who don't

@karysma Whats the point of forgiving someone who does have any remorse for what they did? Who has no repentance for their action against you?

Think about the process that God requires for a human to have His forgiveness.. A person must acknowledge their sin to God and seek His forgiveness for their transgression against His standards... God does not forgive a person who does not seek for His forgiveness..

The same goes for human forgiveness.. The offender must acknowledge their wrong and apologize and ask to be forgiven.. That's when the offended person should give the offender forgiveness..

Now i do not seek to carry out revenge against a person who has done me wrong.. As a Christian i pass that judgement over to the LORD.. I trust in His judgement.. I must keep myself open to receive the request for forgiveness from the human who has offended me and if they repent of their wrong doing i must grant them forgiveness.. But if they have no regret for their actions and are proud of the bad they did to me then they are in Gods hands..

@Adstar Matthew 6:14-15 (KJV) For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Would Jesus had said this if God didn't forgive unconditionally. There's nowhere where he said those that wrong you should first be truly sorry to earn your forgiveness. He just said forgive them.

Technically when you don't forgive God won't forgive you in return.

Amen.. I agree..

But i do not agree with your interpretation.. Again there is a process established by God that humans must follow to obtain the covering of the Atonement of the LORD Jesus for their redemption.. If God forgave people who are wilful transgressors who are proud of their sins and who reject the atonement of Jesus then would you say God is just??? If a person has no regret for their bad action against you.. If they have no desire to be forgiven.. If they are proud of what they did to you.. What is the point of forgiving them? They do not want your forgiveness and probably have nothing but mocking contempt for you or even anger at you saying you forgive them..

If a person asks for my forgiveness and i refuse to forgive them then yes i agree with your conclusion i am in danger of not being forgiven by God for my transgressions..

Please support your point with scripture.

@karysma
(Romans 3:20-25) "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. {21} But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; {22} Even the righteousness of God which is[c=7700B2] by faith of Jesus Christ[/c] unto all and upon all them [c=7700B2]that believe[/c]: for there is no difference: {23} For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; {24} Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: {25} Whom[c=7700B2] God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood[/c], to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;"

Faith is trusting God.. Faith is trusting in the Atonement of the LORD Jesus.. The Atonement of the LORD Jesus does not cover those who have no Faith ( Trust ) in the Atoning Blood of Jesus.. And again with faith there is also Belief ( upon all them [c=7700B2]that believe[/c] ) Believe what? Believe the teachings of the LORD Jesus Christ..

As for repentance::

Jesus said::

(Luke 13:3) "[c=BF0000]I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish[/c]."

Now i believe Jesus was talking about them repenting to God or they would perish in the eternal lake of fire..

Again Jesus said about a person to person situation::

(Luke 17:3-4) "¶ [c=BF0000]Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and [big]if[/big] he repent, forgive him.[/c] {4} [c=BF0000]And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him[/c]."

Notice how the one who trespasses against you must repent to you.. Jesus said forgive him [big]IF[/big] he repents..

@Adstar I see. For me not forgiving is a burden so I forgive weather they repent or not. They'll catch up whenever they decide they're ready to repent.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@karysma The burden for me is lifted when i give it over to The LORD... I psychologically turn the cheek to the offender and forgo any form of personal revenge when i place them in Gods hands..

Indeed in the long run i don't think they even need to personally ask me for forgiveness if they end up coming to believe Jesus and trust in His Atonement.. They will be forgiven all their transgressions even the ones they did to me.. And i will be only too happy to meet them in eternity and embrace them as my eternal bother or sister in Christ.. 🤗
