Story about this time some guy got killed in front of my house
Literally just telling this story because the way everything flowed together was so story-like, it doesn't even sound real tbh so I don't tell it often.
To start, I just got a new roommate at the time. It was the February of 2018, shortly after I left SW which means it was right after my home burned down. I was living in a large house where the owner rented out rooms to people here & there. I was one of them.
New roommate showed up one day & he was a spoiled rich kid (pardon my judgement). I say that because he told me his story. No need for detail because I mostly don't remember 😂 I just remember knowing the guy left on his own to prove a point to his dad or something after a disagreement.
He was a big drinker though, seemed like an alcoholic to me. I drank a hell of a lot too but this guy stuck with purely IPA's & would kill whole packs 🤷 I could never.
Anyway it was on his 2nd or 3rd night there & he asked me where the nearest store was to get alcohol. I tried telling him the liquor store directions & he didn't know the streets so we just started walking there together. I waited outside while he went in because I was still only 20. He was 24 so he was legal to buy.
While I stood there this big dude came running up in the parking lot out of breath. Somehow we struck up a conversation. He asked me if I smoked weed & I said yeah. He said he sells it but I sold too so we exchanged contact info. I asked him what the bandana on his hand was for (it was black so I knew what gang that represented in the area. I just wanted him to confirm it). Instead of claiming a hood, he told me that he had just gotten in a fight where the other guy pulled out a knife on him. So when the guy launched at him, this dude caught it by the blade & pulled it out the guys hand like some movie shit, then stabbed the man 4 times with his own knife.
I kinda believed him because he was so casual about it & he only told me because I asked. But I for sure believed him when he unwrapped the bandana & his hand was sliced open. Shit was still bleeding so he closed his hand again & rewrapped it but I was like "You gonna go get that taken care of or what? Wtf are you still doing out here?" 😅
He told me he was waiting for his gf to pick him up & she was almost there.
Thats when new roommate walked out the store with our alcohol & he saw us talking so he introduced himself all proper. When he reached to shake the guys hand we just laughed 😂
Then we said bye & we started heading our different ways.
New roommate was like "damn you just know everybody around here huh?" & I was like "nah I didn't even know that guy I just met him rn. He said he just stabbed some dude thats why his hand was wrapped up"
New roommate seemed a bit surprised at that but he was like "oh thats why he didn't shake my hand?" then we just carried on talking about other shit till we got back to the house.
When we got back there was a bunch of emergency vehicles outside the house so I walked up asking what was going on. Everyone was saying that this dude just got picked up in an ambulance after being stabbed 4 times. Apparently it happened directly in front of my house & the guy was picked up off the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The neighbors across the street said they saw it happen & the (now deceased) guy was belligerent & tried to attack a random guy with a knife as he walked diwn the street. That guy he tried to attack, managed to snatch the knife out of the attackers hand & stab him with his own knife then run away. Everybody knew who the guy was but nobody named him. I didn't even talk to the cops I just asked my own questions then went inside 😂 All the police knew was the suspect was wearing dark clothes. Chances are they weren't looking for the suspect though. They were just taking notes playing the part. Cops didn't care in that area & I knew that.
When we were back inside I was just talking about it like "holy shit that dude was not kidding. I didn't expect it to be right on our sidewalk out there. That must've happened right after we left because I was only standing at the store for a minute before he came running up. Imagine if we left any later or something. We might've had to deal with that dude too 🤔"
New roommate was pretty stunned at the situation like he had just been in the middle of a crime scene... which we basically were 🤷 but he chilled out once he started drinking. I was chill the whole time because I was used to shit like that but it was obvious that this rich kid was getting a huge reality check at the moment. I just shrugged it off like "you're fine bro. Shit happens. Its rough out here y'know"
But I knew me being so calm about it probably made him feel more shocked which was hilarious to me 😂 I was being supportive but low key enjoying his reality check. I just wanted to rub it in.
The next day I woke up & new roommate was gone 🤣 he didn't even ask for any rent money back, talk to anybody, he just up & vanished 💀 I got a feeling he probably went back to his dads & apologized for whatever they were fighting about. I could be wrong & maybe he just went somewhere else but I can definitely imagine bro sucking up his pride after that & going back home.
Anyway, that's the story ✌️ I don't even remember "new roommate's" real name, thats how briefly I knew him. Maybe he was a Rodney, he seems like a Rodney to me.
Hope you got some help out there Rodney 🙏 honestly the story might've been one of the scariest things he's ever been through for all I know
