There's this one kid in the Cadet squad that seems to be very attached to me.

Whenever I visit during practice she runs up to me and hugs me. When I go somewhere during practice breaks, she follows me and goes with me.

A few weeks ago the squad was hired to do an honourable send off ceremony at a funeral and she stuck by my side all the time when they were not marching. She also told my one daughter that I'm no longer my daughters dad, but hers 🤦🏼‍♂️.

Kinda sweet yes, but I guess she longs for a father figure since she comes from a sad background.
Continue being a great Dad, but be careful.

My Dad (also a great one) told me about an advisor from seminary, who told him to never give gossip a chance. "If you are driving and see the woman who plays piano at church walking home, go home and get your wife then go back and take her home. If you see her walking home in a blizzard, give her your coat, go home and get your wife, then go back and take her home."

Totally understandable. I used to work at an amusement park about 4 years ago. Some of the kids there would run up to me and give me a hug. Sometimes you can tell if they are loved or not. It's just one of those things. Be an example because you never know how much you mean to someone out here in the world.
