Sadly this has happened to me....

My parents lost me at Walmart. :P

Not a unique thing, it happens a lot. Heck that happened with me a few times as a kid.

One time a kid was lost at a park during forth of July. I just took her to the stage area and they announced her name.

I think the key difference is that most lost possessions don't actively attempt to escape.
