Random Thought of The Day

On vacay over the summer.

Why are people rude? Is it possibly because they don’t know any better or feel entitled or think it’s okay to speak to others in a sassy tone?

I know some will say “to each their own”…had a few encounters this week and not used to people talking like that at home.

Try not to be too upset by it. I sometimes think people in unfamiliar places don’t have bad intentions, it’s just a difference in the way things are said. I grew up in the southern US. Everyone was always “syrup sweet”, even with strangers. It was quite a culture shock for me when I moved up north. For about the first year, I thought everyone was rude as hell😅 They weren’t, I simply wasn’t accustomed to how bluntly people would speak.

Where are you from nd where did you go?
I do agreed.
I see the older generations greet each other as they pass them, hold doors, strike up conversations etc.

I see our gen doing the opposite. Seems like everyone things you're competing with them.
In my mind I'm like ' YOU are not my competition. I'm my competition" 💁‍♀️

I have noticed that manner do seem to be out of fashion right now. And personally I think a certain American ex president can shoulder much of the blame,

He brought out the worst in people, for sure. @whowasthatmaskedman

What if they are just being themselves and your interpretation is that they are rude? What if they have brain illness and that is the best they can do, and it isn't even half bad?

I am now in the bible belt. Sure are a lot of religionists trying to control others without any awareness that they are bad examples, out of line.

Just went through this tonight, a bit touchy right now.

@FlowersNButterflies thanks for pointing out that the person is probably just being him/herself. Not being from the area, maybe that’s the culture and the way people talk to one another.

So, are we talking other holidaymakers or locals?

Where is the vacation?

Where is ‘at home’?

They rely on the possibility that you won't be rude back, or that you'll be too embarrassed to create a scene, in some instances i've experienced, they've even had the audacity to say "why are you being rude" ... no, i'm not joking

@BigGuy2 oh man. That definitely is an experience. I’m trying to understand there are different backgrounds with where I’m from versus where I am now. Haha slowly coming to an understanding. Thanks for the reply!
