How do people who had a commitment ceremony get a divorce per se?

There are a few states (and the District of Columbia) that still recognize common law marriage. Basically the rules are, referring to each other as spouse, living together, 'holding yourselves out as a married couple,' and in some cases, consummation of the marriage.

If you live in a state that doesn't recognize common law marriage you can just turn in your keys and walk away.
