Does It Annoy You Some, When Someone Disregards What You've Just Told Them Your Name Is?

Let's say you've just met someone, either on the phone or in person. You tell them your name is William, or Debbie. They then shorten it or add onto it, and call you Billy or Deb.

Yes. Newly-met persons should not presume to give you some alternate/pet name.

@SomeMichGuy Neither. My own given first name though, does have many options for variations.

Seems we agree, that persons ought not disregard what an individual clearly states as their name.

@Piper Of course. In fact, getting a name RIGHT is very important, socially. I often make sure that I get both the pronunciation and spelling correct...蟺-per

@SomeMichGuy I think it's pretty important to many people...yes. I too, give attention to both the spelling and pronunciation of a person's name.
