Does It Annoy You Some, When Someone Disregards What You've Just Told Them Your Name Is?

Let's say you've just met someone, either on the phone or in person. You tell them your name is William, or Debbie. They then shorten it or add onto it, and call you Billy or Deb.

In a way yes, but I am forgiving as I think I have some kind of mental problem since I was a kid. I have a hard time remembering names for some reason, I can multiply two three digit numbers in my head and do all kinds of math problems without pen and paper, remember names of songs and bands, and great at history but names have always posed a problem. I have tried the trick of repeating names three times out loud and other things but I have some kind of mental block.
