Does It Annoy You Some, When Someone Disregards What You've Just Told Them Your Name Is?
Let's say you've just met someone, either on the phone or in person. You tell them your name is William, or Debbie. They then shorten it or add onto it, and call you Billy or Deb.

All right, @Fernie. I can't think of anyone who doesn't have that kind of name, really. No kind of "harm" is implied here, by this thing some find to be a minor annoyance.
@Piper yes, I know that some find it annoying...I do not...it's extremely common ...people forgetting a name 2 seconds after they hear it...and I come from a family that played with names, gave nicknames to,shortened names...it was a level of intimacy...no one was annoyed.
