Does It Annoy You Some, When Someone Disregards What You've Just Told Them Your Name Is?

Let's say you've just met someone, either on the phone or in person. You tell them your name is William, or Debbie. They then shorten it or add onto it, and call you Billy or Deb.

Yes!... but I'm so used to it that I often just let it go. Unless it's someone that I know I'll talk with often then I'll correct them until they get it right.馃き

My real name is a common nickname as well... so people often call me by that other name despite never being introduced to them as such.

@StarLily I am used to it also, and usually just let it go except for the times when someone seems annoyed that I dare to "correct" them about what I've just told them is my name.

It is just a minor annoyance to me, but it wouldn't be as minor if someone I knew kept on doing it.

@Piper I've had people seem annoyed when I correct them too. I find it kind of unthoughtful when they do so.

@StarLily I agree, that unthoughtful often applies concerning this subject. 馃檪
