Does It Annoy You Some, When Someone Disregards What You've Just Told Them Your Name Is?

Let's say you've just met someone, either on the phone or in person. You tell them your name is William, or Debbie. They then shorten it or add onto it, and call you Billy or Deb.

This is one of my pet peeves as well. Not so much with my own name, but the general trend amazes me.

I imagine that Queen Lizzy is not amused.

Fact is, there are several derivations of both my actual given name and my internet username...that don't annoy me at ALL. I'm thinking "Pipey" isn't one of those, right off!
