Does It Annoy You Some, When Someone Disregards What You've Just Told Them Your Name Is?

Let's say you've just met someone, either on the phone or in person. You tell them your name is William, or Debbie. They then shorten it or add onto it, and call you Billy or Deb.

Or they think it's some other name altogether!

If you have a surname that can also be a first name, you tend often to be addressed mistakenly by that, sometimes even by people who have known you for some time.

I don't let it worry me if people have my name wrong - I am one of those slow to remember names and faces so I can't complain.

@ArishMell I don't let it worry me either, but I do think it's mildly annoying when you've just told someone your name...as in "and you can call me____", and right after that they shorten it.

@Piper Oh, yes, I can see that, and it would annoy me.
