Does It Annoy You Some, When Someone Disregards What You've Just Told Them Your Name Is?

Let's say you've just met someone, either on the phone or in person. You tell them your name is William, or Debbie. They then shorten it or add onto it, and call you Billy or Deb.

My actual first name defies nicknames, so occasionally people call me a different name altogether. 😅

@bijouxbroussard I think I am in a similar boat. My name is unusual to pronounce. My whole life I have been called variations of my name (in fact my entire school career, and even my work career, I was/am known by an incorrect name) - only people who know me well know my name. Strangely enough, it doesn't bother me.

@Lochlee It bothered me more when I was younger. Now I just say, “close enough !” 😏
