I get monumentally more annoyed when people use my name when I never gave it to them. Like when they over heard someone else saying it or read it off a name tag. It's rude AF.

my husband totally abuses the. name tag privilege. I fucking hâte it. He makes a specific point of mentioning their name cause he says “it builds a rapport” f@ck no you sound stupid af. and he has no intention of ever remembering peoples names so why he even looks at a name tag is beyond me. @MethDozer

@DoubleRings It's insulting and I hate it because it's a manipulative power play. Introduce yourself first.
It isn't building a rapport, it's skipping it and playing a power game. I hate people who try to play that mental aikido shit on me. You're trying to assert your place above someone by doing that.
I hated wearing name tags and used to argue it's wrong to require them.

@DoubleRings The people who.do it always get pissy over being looked at like " who the Fuck are you" too. I've gotten written up before for saying " excuse you but I have no idea who you are so how do you know me?"

@MethDozer i agrée that it seems wrong to make people wear one. idk how to make my hubby ignore them i’ve told him it’s weird - Like an invasion of privacy. I used to wear one at a former workplace. I felt uncomfortable with people using my first name. Sometimes we would put bogus names in our tags just to be funny. We picked a name we either always wanted or seemed highly unlikely. Like giving an irish looking person a very italian sounding name lol.
