Does It Annoy You Some, When Someone Disregards What You've Just Told Them Your Name Is?

Let's say you've just met someone, either on the phone or in person. You tell them your name is William, or Debbie. They then shorten it or add onto it, and call you Billy or Deb.

A little yes. All my closest friends know not to call me "Dave" I like my more formal "David"

@Grateful4you Yes, and would it would just as annoying if they called you "Davey" when they know you prefer "David"?
@Piper My dad called me "Davey" as a kid if it was being used as a term of endearment I wouldn't mind.

@Grateful4you But that's way different, I think, from someone you've just met calling you Davey.
@Piper Yes, that would probably make me feel a bit uneasy for sure.
