Does It Annoy You Some, When Someone Disregards What You've Just Told Them Your Name Is?

Let's say you've just met someone, either on the phone or in person. You tell them your name is William, or Debbie. They then shorten it or add onto it, and call you Billy or Deb.

@SW-User It's even worse, when it's someone who you're pretty sure knows what your preferred name is.

@Piper My mom confused me with my sister, re: the name.

Our names were almost the same and both names were to honor the same dead relative.

@Elevatorpitches My mom just called my brother and I by our dog's or each other's name sometimes, when she was distracted or upset about something. I am also guilty of that, at times...as in using a 'wrong' name.
