Do females feel a need to feel beautiful?

Do you think that for females beauty is built so much into our identity that there is a genuine need for this to be validated amongst most women in order for them to feel high self worth? Validation thru attention, online views, stares, jealousy from other females, jobs where looks are important, boyfriends, husbands and just in life in general. Are women subtly and overtly seeking validation of our looks from everyone more so than men do?

I think so. But I've always disliked the jealousy part. It was worse when I was younger and a bit thinner and people kept saying I should be a model. I liked the compliments because I had a fat phobia from family and old-fashioned ideas. My weight went up and down a bit because I always has to stay functioning. It took years to get over that. But for me it was more a guilt complex than an ugliness complex.
