Why do people rarely take responsibility for things they do/say when drunk?

As someone who has never had a drink and never will I don’t understand the whole “I didn’t mean it, it was just my drunk self not my real self” excuse. All I know is I am so sick of people doing awful things when they’re drunk and then not taking any responsibility for it when they’re sober.

I take responsibility. If I was drunk and mouthed off to you then it's because I'd mean it but I'm not a fake arse so I would say it to you sober anyway - probably nicer but the same gist.

So if alot of people are saying stuff to you when drunk it's because that's their true thoughts and they are too polite or scared of you to say it to you sober.

sometimes if you have too much, yeah its not what you would have done.
but in general many people use alcohol as an excuse , to not take responsibility for their actions
It's just an excuse to fall back on, some part of them must have wanted to do or say something to start with and the drinking just gave them balls enough to do it. If they were blind drunk that would be different maybe not to sure about it

You should not drink at all. Because it just damages your brain and make ridiculous discussions.

It really all depends on what I did and if I remember it or not ;-;

Nobody wants to get punished for their actions

Because the Devil made them do it
Alcohol tends to relax people’s inhibitions. It doesn’t change who they basically are.

@bijouxbroussard Agreed....I might say or do some things when drunk that I’d think twice about if I wasn’t, but I’m not going to kill or abuse someone because I’m drunk.

@bijouxbroussard It also impacts your ability to make rational decisions. Not that that contradicts what you're saying, just adding onto that.
