Betty Davis and Christopher Lee as the bad guys seriously hamming it up. Ike Eissenman and Kim Richards as the kids from another planet.
I think Denier Pyle played a 'grandparent-y' character.

You know I’ve watched enough tv but I’ve never had a favourite childhood movie ?

Two I clearly remember are Chitty Chitty Bang Bang & Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines.

Its still my all time favorite: Edward Scissorhands.
