How to participatein heated loud discussions as an introvert?

Hi, I'm a really introverted person and I often find myself especially quiet when in a group where everyone talks loudly and there's a heated discussion. How to learn to become part of it?

It doesn't need to be a bar, for example, we just had a christmas party at work, where everyone was loudly joking around and I found myself to be too introverted to join in.
