Does anyone miss the old telephone which had spring cord in it.

There was a dialer and it looked very authentic to call someone from that.

I miss that box.

I miss the old crank phone on the wall with a separate mouth piece and ear piece. Crank the old phone to let 'central' know who you wanted to talk to knowing full well every neighbour on the circuit was listening in on your conversation.

@TheOrionbeltseeker I remember my Mom using it. I was too little. I knew all the neighbours were listening because Mom listened in on all the other phone calls. She called it rubbering short for rubbernecking. Meaning looking into other people's business. My Grandmother died in our house and at 2 AM Mom phoned the doctor to let him know she had passed. At 6 AM she went to phone the rest of the family to let them know and heard the neighbour discussing the passing of my Grandmother.

I have felt lately that rubbernecking is wrong. Sometimes, you want to help people in distress and you are caught otherwise so no Rubbernecking from now onwards. I like the phrase and I will use it in nearly everything today.
