What was an absurd rule you had to follow when you were growing up?

@Jenny1234 all year round. It was school uniform for most boys in those days (usually until 12 or 13) and for church etc but my parents were traditional and I wore them always until I was old enough to be a "man". We don't get perishingly cold weather. The worst actually was getting my legs wet and cold in the rain.
