What was an absurd rule you had to follow when you were growing up?

I wasn't allowed to talk around my moms boyfriend even if it was cheerful news, because then the abuse would start.

@dragonfly46 It was my mom who was silencing me, giving me the eye, stepping on my toes, telling me to be quiet around him. I don't know why she gave into him and why she didn't just take us away from him.

@saintsong Ive asked myself that sometimes too. Ive also had friends that needed those questions asked of them also.
