Do you have a foreign culture that absolutely fascinates you ?

I agree. It's so different to the west. But the people are lovely and the food is amazing. @SW-User

@sarahcupcake what aspects did you love the best?

I think the friendliness of people in general and the food. My friend who I did the home stay with, was great when I was with her in her own environment, but when she came to stay with us, she wasn't that outward going or fun. But I am still friends with someone the people I met there. I went back, not to Tokyo but to Kobe in my early twenties and I liked that. One thing which was different is the family situation where the father is hardly seen during the week and really only around on the Sunday. I think it is more sexist there than in UK but that was just my impression.

You really must but you ought to try and find some friends to meet before you go, if you can. They will show you around and help you just find your bearings and get settled. Also I got a Japan Rail Pass which is basically a cheap train ticket for a week or month or whatever and you can go anywhere using it and it's very cheap if you buy it in your country before you go @SW-User
