Does love really exist ?

or is that just a lie we tell each other over and over again in stories and movies to inspire for something greater that isnt even possible ?

I don't know. It is true that men will die for their wives and gfs and children; and, mothers will die for their children. If that's not love, I don't know what is. Willfully letting go of the most important thing to you for someone else.

Maybe it's just being high. And sometimes people will kill themselves when they're high. Regardless, that is real, is it not? That feeling and the action are both real things.

That said, in the end, it's also true that we're mostly just animals looking to rut and fuck and eat and kill. And that we have our own particular evolutionary methods for being able to survive to repeat that process in infinity.

So. I don't know. The thing about humans is that we do have the capacity to examine ourselves and willfully refuse to engage in some of our baser instincts. So, perhaps it's also true that we have the capacity--if not the nature--to love, despite our baser natures, and in spite of ourselves.

Or perhaps those capable of that are few and far between, and our idea of love is simply a sad justification and rationalization to maintain our genetic line.

Perhaps our attachments to other people are fundamentally attachments to ourselves, via the benefits and advantages the other provides for our survival and comfort; so, when we lose them, we lose the advantages to ourselves. But that could also be considered a type of love, no?

So who knows. All I know is what feels good and what feels bad.
