Just DO IT ! Overthinking impedes one from connecting.

Like what part gives you issues?
Making friends or just talking to people on a daily basis?

@blasphemy666 who's them? friends or just people you may talk to but aren't friends with?
For me, I had bad social anxiety and can feel out of place sometimes, esp during public speaking, but I digress. I've found that online friendships go a long way in helping one break out of their anxious shell, provided you friend the right types of people.

@deadgerbil i think I'm more worried about work kind of situations where one needs networking skills. I think the problem lies in the fact that all my life I've been a giver, because of some misplaced sense of guilt and i feel awkward in these situations because at the back of my mind i know that I'm talking to these people simply for my benefit

@blasphemy666 I think so long as you are cool with people, your network should expand as you meet people.
Well, in a working environment, you kind of talk to people for your benefit. Unless you are working in a charity or something, talking to people for your benefit isn't a bad thing.

Why are you crippled? What part of socializing do you find hard?
blasphemy666 · 31-35, F
@Pherick i think it's a self esteem issue. I don't find myself interesting/smart enough to talk to people
Pherick · 41-45, M
@blasphemy666 Well sometimes I think large forums are hard places to have conversations. So many people in and out of chats hard to really feel like you have someone’s attention.
Might be good to find a forum that specializes in an interest of yours, that might help in at least keeping conversations targeted in a direction?

@Pherick yeah I'm planning to be a part of such events/forums

I avoid talking to my neighbors because I don’t know when people are going to stop spreading rumors about me.
midnightsun · 26-30, M
I don't know how to help but I only think it's that hard
Spoiledbrat · F
Why do you feel this way.
blasphemy666 · 31-35, F
@Spoiledbrat i think my professional life is being hampered by me never having enough courage or confidence in myself to just go and talk to people. I can talk for a while, but i don't know how to socialise in form of 'networking'
