South Dakota badlands and the Louisiana bayou country. The badlands reached something basic in me. I grew up in the green hills of Pennsylvania and the badlands looked like a moonscape. The far distant past seemed very familiar to me there. It was a unique experience.
Bayou country is often more populated than you can see or sense. It's a place of secrets and mysteries. There I felt at risk, although I did not experience a bad moment.
Any natural beauty inspires awe and gratitude in me, that I was privileged to see it, to live in a world where what I've seen is a small fraction of what there is.
