Is it normal that the first thing I do when I wake up is to smoke weed?

I just immediately sense that it's been 6-8 hours without the drug, and feel the strong need to do so to "feel better". Does that just come with the territory of being a chronic toker?

normal for you, sure.
not for me though. If i did that first thing every day I would never get anything done.

@TwiddlerofThumbs Oh, I get up and on to work alright, mind you.. on days off, I tend to do nothing at all mostly.
@MougyWolf I know a few people who do what you do. My husband had an employee who could only get his work done while high. Everyone is different.
Myself. it makes me sleepy and in need of seeking that happy place in my mind. Also, what I've found is that it takes away my loneliness.

@TwiddlerofThumbs I'm in a situation where I would like to ask you.. what are your thoughts on employees who only really function while high? (on cannabis) Is this grounds for dismissal? Ought it be? Is it a grey area? What's your take on it?
@MougyWolf In this instance, the employee is a programmer. So as long as he is getting his job done, whatever. Some people can function better high than not high. Some people cant function at all high (me).
If your safety/others safety is in question, to me being high is absolutely not an option. If you sit at a desk all day and you get your work done, I don't know why anyone should care. There are grey areas of course. Same as people who drink on the jop.
