Did I react the right way?
Dealing with my mom today was more than daunting or tiring.
I had only slept 3 hours for the past 2 nights, and I was just tired.
So she came to my kids homecoming football games and then came to my house. She asked if her husband could shower here because they were heading to a party my husband said yes but I didn’t want him to, so I hadn’t heard and the agreement was made so what ever. (As soon as they left I threw all the shower loofahs and my soaps away, I don’t think I can put into words how much this man disgusts me and then he thinks he can act like nothing happened - ever!!)
Anyways I made something to eat because I was hungry so I cooked for everyone. When we sat down to eat my mom started talking about her husbands family when the conversation came up about one of his nieces being wanted in connection to a child trafficking ring her husband was busted for. Anyways, she said something like “if my husband had been doing something like that I would have left him”
To which I laughed and said “haha no you wouldn’t, don’t lie, your husband can’t do no wrong in your eyes...”
She said “I’m serious!” I replied “so molesting your only daughter for 4 years was ok but you draw the line at trafficking kids? I don’t believe it”
Then I stopped eating and went to flip some tortillas on the griddle and she just shut up. I didn’t apologize. I’m so sick of the pretending. I’m glad my kids were in their bedroom playing video games.
