What is the difference between pretending to be supportive and trying to be supportive?

I’d say it’s a matter of apathetic/negative and positive intention.

@LyricalOne passive negative/rude comments as compared to direct positive, supportive comments. If I weight them out the rude ones are more common. If I ask him he will tell me what I want to hear, or really, what serves his purpose at the time.

I might have to not care.
