Why does the older generation resent the younger one?

It's so typical to hear they hate that they had to do a thing in their day and don't want their own children to have the freedom not to do those things now that they're no longer necessary.
Had a father complaining about his daughter being vegetarian, his response "Well I had to so she should have to as well". You didn't like being controlled by your parents so you choose to inflict the same control over your own. You'd think it would be the last thing any empathetic parent would do to their child.

I think it’s just bitter people that miss the “good old days” and are living in the past. Hence, you have the whole “this new generation is so sensitive and lazy” when it’s the older generations that raped the economy leaving younger people with scraps and debt.

As far as parenting, a lot of people don’t bother to use resources on how to parent their kids better and just go off of what their parents did to them.

@Insomniac100 but if you didn't like how your parents treated you then why wouldn't you take parenthood as an opportunity to give your children the childhood you would of wanted for yourself?
