Only once when my wife of 20 years told me she didn't love me anymore. I won't let that situation ever happen again.

@RemovedUsername786576 I'd never say never... but i really can't imagine putting myself into that kind of emotional risk again.

I've never been married myself but if I'm being honest I don't want to. I don't even want to be in a relationship

@RemovedUsername786576 But then again maybe he wasn't innocent either. Maybe he wasn't putting any effort in keeping the sparks alive and it caused the romance to die

@RemovedUsername786576 @karysma The scariest aspect about it is this. We are told there's a dream of falling in love and then a relationship for life. That when we get married, we take vows until death us do part etc. Yet, those vows are only as strong as the weakest person in the relationship. So it's like a ticking time bomb. At any time the other person can just decide that it's all too hard and it's time to move on. I really loved the dream, but the reality really hurts. Still, it does work out for some.

@RemovedUsername786576 @karysma I really tried my best to be a good husband. I was completely faithful. She had breast cancer for 10 years and we never even had sex yet i stayed. I renovated our whole house just to make it the way she had always wanted. I sat with her for days at chemotherapy holding her hand so she wouldn't have to go through that alone. But in the end, it just wasn't enough. I would have done more if i knew what more i could have done.

@SW-User That's a ticking time bomb fleshed with misogyny, so you mean to say you would like to meet a person?
SW-User
@SW-User I don't understand what you mean? Do you mean i hate women? If so, you have once again misunderstood what i've said.
karysma · 31-35, F
Well said @SW-User Some people are quitters but they don't know that even if you move on to the next person you'll be taking that attitude with you and once things hit a low in that new relationship you'll run like you always do. It's like an endless cycle

@karysma Thank you for understanding.

@SW-User Really that was not my meaning, nor have I have brought up we how have talked before, when I had I was much more kind than how I misunderstood u

@RemovedUsername786576 I actually lost all my things in the divorce. I think the hardest part was that i really thought i was immune from one. I mean, i assumed that to get to the divorce stage that there would be arguments, mistrust, lies, anger etc. But we had none of that. There was some emotional distance but nothing to really signify any thing serious. I don't want to put you off a relationship though. They do work amazingly well for some people, but the pain is great, especially the older you are when it happens.

@SW-User I mean if a guy stuck by me when I was sick and took care of me I'll love that person forever. Most guys start acting weird when the lady gets sick for a long time

@karysma That's what her doctor told me too. She took me aside one day and said, most guys get a divorce when their partner has their breasts removed. I told her that i would never do that. I couldn't live with myself.
SW-User
@SW-User Sorry then, what did you mean by misogyny?
SW-User
@SW-User A male dominated way to view things?
SW-User
@RemovedUsername786576 I appreciate your honesty. I would love to be in a relationship again, but from what i experienced, i could be told by her that she loved me and would stay forever, then still one day out of nowhere just say, well it's all over i'm afraid. I still might try again, but it might take a while.

@RemovedUsername786576 It's difficult i know. The thing is marriage is awesome when it's working well, in fact i thought it was the greatest thing ever. But if it ends when you don't want it to, it's about the worst thing imaginable.
