Like if I wrote my initials on my socks to separate them from everyone else's in my house hold?

Try shaming. Mark your socks. Stalk your housemates when they go out and when they are chatting up someone attractive, demand they draw up their trouser leg and show their socks. One of you will get embarrassed, possibly both.
