What do you consider mindless?
SW-User
@Peaceful That's different for everyone. You'd have to answer from your perspective.
Peaceful · F
@SW-User fair enough. I believe everything has value.
SW-User
@Peaceful It's all just experience?
Peaceful · F
@SW-User in what way?
SW-User
@Peaceful I just meant that anything, whether mindless or not, is just an experience. Someone suggested that mindless things are of no value, but I happen to disagree.

@SW-User I think most everything that most disregard are sentient beings. I also think when people choose to check out, whether it be through drugs, alcohol or escapism, they lose connection to themselves and all that's around them.
SW-User
@Peaceful Sentient beings, being other life forms with consciousness? Is losing connection/escapism a bad thing?
Peaceful · F
@SW-User no. I'm speaking of trees as an example or plants.

It isn't as long as it doesnt become a crutch.
SW-User
@Peaceful Well there is new research showing that trees do have an intelligence and communicate with each other. Whether or not that is truly sentient, I'm not sure. But this makes me think of the Bristlecone Pines in Big Pine, CA. Some of those trees, at over 4,000 years old, are among the oldest living organisms on earth. You can't help but be in awe of their magnificence.

I agree totally on the drug/escapism. I happen to partake occasionally and I'm far from being an unproductive person.

@SW-User read The Secret Life of Plants, a NYT best seller. It goes into detail with proof how sentient they truly are.
SW-User
@Peaceful I need to read that book. I've read only a couple of articles that show how plants and trees can send distress signals, help each other and communicate through the soil. It's fascinating stuff, for sure.
Peaceful · F
@SW-User one of the best books I've ever read. Really expands the mind. 😌
SW-User
@Peaceful I am hoping this changes perspectives. We haven't done a good job of living in harmony with the earth's other inhabitants. I just hope it's not too late.
Peaceful · F
@SW-User please let me know what you think of it after reading it. It's truly amazing.
SW-User
@Peaceful Yeah, I will. Thanks <3
