My first flight - at age 12 - was in a DC-3. The plane was unpressurized and the stewardesses - they all were women way back then - passed out chewing gum to all of the passengers before takeoff and landing to protect people's eardrums from rupture.
There were also only prop-planes back then.
I have flown many times since that first memorable flight.
