how many of you ever experianced having the slipper or cane across the bare bottom or have seen it administered. I am talking as used on children not

@frenchstrictdad no...it was very much the exception rather than the rule. It was very rare indeed in State funded schools that boys were required to take it on their bare bottom. More likely prior to 1986 a sharp whack with a gym shoe from the Pe staff, timed to be given when the boy had nothing on or just underpants. It would have been rare that a boy in the heads office would be required to take his trousers and pants down and bend over to have the cane on his bare bottom.

sCHOOLS that were run by thhe Church were more likely to administer punishment on the bare bottom and tended to be a leather strap or paddle rather than a cane, but some did use the cane. It was fairly common for a monk or nun to administer it bare.

Most schools, but not that many, that did it on the bare bottom tended to be private schools. Here, in some schools, boys were required to take their trousers down and have the slipper or cane on their pants but at times these were required to be pulled down, the shirt lifted up and the slipper or cane used on the bare bottom. These scools tended to be ones that had years of tradition where the bottom was bared. Often the boys fathers haD ATTENDED THE SCHOOL, KNEW THE TRADITION AND WERE VERY MUCH IN FAVOUR OF IT CONTINuing. Some private schools almost had to make boys take at least their trousers down as certainly prior to about 1990, these schools were very strict on uniform and school trousers were often very thick and the cane or slipper would not sting very much over these.

Generally I think you can say bare bottom punishments were fairly rare in schools. However, where they were used, it tended to be the case that it was always on the bare bottom.

i do not know of any real cases of girls having their bare bottoms caned...i think these belong mostly to fantasy stories

@chikki I know bare bottom spanking happened in primary school in France but nothing as formal as you described

hand spanking some little childs bottom while over the knee om the bare bottom is fairly informal. It did happen in State schools to a linited extent but as a rule it was done on pants. iN private school punishment was more formal and spanking with the hand was not often done. With young children it was a ruler on the backs of the legs or bottom, but mostly after 8 it was a leather slipper, strap or cane used mostly on the bottom but in a few cases on the hands. Even 8 year olds if they wee going to be whacked on the bottom had to take their short trousers dow and either reach over a table or chair to have their bottom whacked. Of course in some schools they had to take pants off as wll and bend over to have it on the bare bottom
