When did it begin?

If you have a fetish, special interest or attraction, do know when it began? Were you aware of it your whole life? Can you pinpoint a time when it began? Or, was it always there but something happened later to cause you to realize it?

That all depends on what you are talking about, so many people talk about having a fetish but really only refer to things that they happen to like or find to be turn ons. A real fetish is more than that actually. But to answer your question the earliest I remember is about 13. A fetish is actually a sub category of paraphilia and they are life long.

@Subsumedpat It was my intent to use the term "fetish" only loosely. An attraction or interest is what I really meant. I said fetish because most people think of those concepts as interchangeable. Anyway...care to share what opened your eyes at 13??

@Wghtlvr In that case mine does not really fit since I was using the word the way it is used in clinical psychology as opposed to common usage. Everyone has a turn on of one kind or another maybe 4% have some kind of paraphilia which covers a wide range of behaviors some just embarrassing some harmful. Fetish is a sub category of paraphilia. In people who develop a paraphilic based fetish it happens kind of in the background without you really even realizing it then awakens with your sexuality around puberty so to answer your question what opened my eyes at 13, nothing. By then it was already there I just did not know it till then.
