Because they've been taught and shown that it's okay. It's "normal" to them.
People don't always think about the impact their actions and behaviour has on others, they're ignorant to how harmful they're being. But we all have the ability to learn to listen to others when they say that something we do bothers them, it's not easy to hear, but if you care about improving the lives of those around you, you will listen and give it real consideration.
There are of course those that are basically assholes and don't care, and are comfortable thinking they're terrible behaviour is justifiable. I don't have the same patience with such men and women.
