Did you see the solar eclipse? What was your experience?

Did it get completely dark or just dusk?

Where I was, it was a total eclipse. It didn't get completely pitch black dark out, but it got dark enough to look like it was dusk at 1 in the afternoon. First we saw the moon creeping into the sun, making the sun look kinda like a orange "moon"... like a gibbous, if you are familiar with astronomy. At one point it looked like what I can only describe as a pac man. Then as the moon was covering more of the sun, it stated to look like a half moon, the a crescent, until the crescent was just a long sliver and it got shorter and shorter until it disappeared. Though the glasses it was dark, but taking the glasses off was such an amazing sight. The moon was so big and bright and round, and the white sun rays surrounded it completely. I wish it could've lasted longer. It was such beautiful sight.

In my opinion, I don't think the pictures do it justice.

Oh and it got cooler and the night insects went crazy. The birds stopped chirping. After a couple mins. The sun crept back in and the night bugs stopped and the birds started chirping again. The animals were so confused! lol.

We didn't even get much over here in MA, USA. It was just a partial eclipse but you could barely see it with the eclipse glasses. xD You got lucky.

@Leyenda it truly was a blessing for us to get it in our location. people were traveling all over to different places just to see it. I'm sorry you didn't get to see the totality. I was looking at some of the images and videos, posted, I haven't found one that looked that looked exactly what we saw, but some came somewhat close. I did see a video showiest some of the stages of the sun when the moon was covering it. I've seen some where it was pitch back dark with the white outline, but i'm not sure if that is just how it came through on the camera. Hopefully either you can find a really accurate picture/video or it will come again somewhere sometime during our lifetime and you can see it then. 😀

I envy all of you that were able to see the eclipse and experience totality. If I had been able to travel to see it, I would have, but time and circumstances did not permit doing so. Maybe in 2024.

Where I live, I noticed it got a little dusky and cool during the time it started.

It was awesome! I was fortunate to see it in totality. So amazing!

I posted my totality picture in a story. It was so cool! Temp dropped, crickets started chirping, it got dusky, I think I even saw Mars in the sky during totality. We had a little over 2 minutes of 100%.

@SW-User Awesome!! i will have to check out your pic!! it was kinda cloudy here, so I don't think we had much visibility of the planets and stars, but the actually eclipse and leading to the total was amazing!!

@sweetiepoo We had scattered clouds before and during, afterwards the eclipse was almost completely cloud-covered.

@Stereoguy did you have eclipse glasses? It looked like bright sunshine at first, and with the glasses you could see the moon coming in to cover the sun. I was in Mid Missouri.
