Yes, I look like the American Indian I am. I live in town, not on a reservation, so I take my chances with getting put down by the master race attitude individuals who have tormented my life since I first could understand what the mean words they we saying meant. I'm dealing with it better as I get older, it is now more a consider the source reaction.
But, beat up pickup trucks sporting Confederate flags and trump stickers and middle finger scowls aren't doing anything to make America, my people's homeland for 10,000 years, a better place for anyone. We have to accept you are here, please accept that we were here before you, and let us have a right to exist as the humans we are as well.

@dannys925 What state do you live in? I used to hear a lot of open racism when I was a child and moved here to Oklahoma, kids would tell racist jokes right in the classroom. If people are racist they aren't so open about it like before and Indians are really good about confronting them if they are, happened where I worked.
I'm sorry people have put you through this. American Indians have every right to live in peace. Racist people can be so disgusting. @dannys925

Hi Patti, Maybe I'm just to sensitive, by why she we have to be taunted as if we have no right to exist. They want us to stop cluttering their landscape with our brown skinned bodies. I'm not going to try to bleach myself white. I listen to Mr. Trumpet's opinions and understand what he is saying, even if I live in the woods in Alaska.

@dannys925 I have paler skin than most (my sisters are darker and have more of the Cherokee looks) and kids didn't realize I was Cherokee when they'd tell their little racist jokes. Southern culture hopefully they've learned better now. Their ignorance didn't shame me a bit and I'm proud of my heritage, we're descendants of survivors.
I love brown skinned men. There is nothing wrong with you....it's them.@dannys925
