I am 48 years old and still to this day have dreams of the bullying I went through when I was 14-15 years old. I wake up in a sweat. How can I still be affected by this?

@MissMollyCharlotte0702 You haven't forgiven them and therefore the hate still grows inside of you.

@MissMollyCharlotte0702 I don't know but I have nightmares a couple of times a year about places I've worked even 40 years ago...I've linked nightmares to having acid reflux, heartburn or even asthma...all inflammatory conditions and when I get it under control I don't have the nightmares. The job I retired from was a living nightmare for the last 5 years and I still have nightmares about it when I have inflammation.
I hear you. I know exactly what you are talking about. I was harassed by a boss and it was a living nightmare.@cherokeepatti
I have tried to forgive, but it's hard.@MartinTheFirst

@MartinTheFirst its not about forgiveness of the person.. all the drama someone puts a person through messes up someone psychologically.

@MissMollyCharlotte0702 My first job out of high school was at a local business, the husband and wife would snip at each other and that was bad enough. Then their business went down because of the recession and they were both real bitches to me....I hung on as long as I could because jobs were not easy to find especially for someone just out of school. I had a nightmare at least once a year for decades. Then after I retired from another job I saw this couple come into the Walmart where I had a part-time greeter job. I don't think either recognized me and they were both friendly. The last time I saw them the lady was walking like she was scooting along (elderly) and looked like she might have been wearing an adult diaper. In a single moment I felt some kind of compassion for her and I've never had another nightmare about that job. Interesting isn't it?
