Do weddings need to be expensive?

I just went to a beautiful wedding and reception and it couldn't have cost more than five hundred dollars. The ceremony was in a forest beside a pond surrounded by wild flowers. The reception was at the bride's home and everyone got a home cooked meal. It was all so amazing.

That was likely more than $500 if there was any decor, if there was more than like fifty people, if there was alcohol, a photographer, if the wedding party was dressed formally, if there was a wedding cake, wedding favours...etc. They can be done for a few thousand for sure. Mine was around$4000, but i wanted open bar which was an additional $10,000. If you dont go for open bar its totally doable for a couple thousand,

@Flenflyys There were about 30 people and an open bar. I was told it cost just under $500 and I take their word for it. There's a photographer in the family- so that was free. And a friend is licenced to perform marriages- so that was free too.

The cost of wedding clothing alone would be over $500. Maybe just for the food alone...i wouldnt believe it though.

@Flenflyys Such a doubter. Yes, rings are extra. But everything else totaled was under $500. Are you angry you spent so much?

🤷js, ive been there so i am doubtful. Maybe they had a string of great deals.
