We were all lied to. Charles Lyell invented the geologic column and he was a lawyer from New York who used his skills to lie to the public and invent
a story about deep time being true. After he died, they found his personal journals and they told a much different story than he told the public. He admitted that he created the entire thing to make people doubt Noah's flood and to rid the sciences of Moses; he said that his goal was to "free the science from Moses". He wanted people to hate the Bible and make us all believe that we were related to primates, specifically Ourang-Outangs.
Lyell said, "I devoured Lamark... his theories delighted me...I am glad that he has been courageous enough and logical enough to admit tat his argument, if pushed as far as it must go, if worth anything would prove that men may have come from the Ourang-outang."
