Weekend Wanderings

I recently moved, and I am slowly exploring my new region. Yesterday, I drove to the banks of the Potomac in southern Maryland, opened Google Maps, and explored inlets and tributaries, on narrow back country roads.

Most roads dead-ended at people' country estates. Some turned to gravel, first. Sadly, all the waterfront property is private. I had to trespass (on private parking lots of restaurants, marinas, and campgrounds) just to see the water.

First, I found a promising restaurant. It was not yet open for they day, though.

Then I drove to another peninsula, and dead-ended on private property. I hopped out and took this photo of somebody's front yard:

Then, I found a campground and marina. Yet all guests had to register at the office. I ignored the sign and snuck in and looked around then drove out, without registering! I'm a rebel!


I saw this neat house on a hill, with a wide view of the water. Their front yard:


Behind me, I saw what looked like a small airstrip, ending at the water. A sign said watch for low flying aircraft. Some rich dude's private airstrip? 🛩

That was yesterday, today I passed a small community park on a little artificial lake. I am sitting on a bench. My view right now:


This place is lovely, except for the loud traffic on the busy road right behind me.

Car people. 🙄

Well, enjoy your day! I hope my car does not have a ticket. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to park there. Another car was there, though.
