Should I feel guilt for taking time off work? Using my PTO

My brothers and dad told me I need to be careful what choices I’m making and my job ALWAYS GOES FIRST. I can’t just take off like that and it was a HUGE risk I took. I mean they do have a point but my boss said she was okay with it and the teacher said she was okay with too and I asked if they’re going to be okay and they said they will be okay thanks for checking in. I’m on my way to a three day weekend trip and we left this morning and now I’m already feeling a little guilty thanks to my dad and brothers! I mean it’s PTO and it’s PAID TIME OFF. I mean what’s the point of having it if we don’t use it. From now on I’m only going to use it for important things. I know my family is going to give me that same lecture if I told them.
I mean it’s already been approved and done so I’m on my way right now. The other staff doesn’t know why I didn’t come in to work and it’s none of their business.
Even my best friend said, “Girl that was a HUGE risk you took. You only worked there for a month and already taking time off. That’s stupid. You won’t get paid and do you really think they meant that they’re really OK with it?”
I told her it’s PAID TIME OFF. She said it doesn’t matter and I shouldn’t of took that day off in the first place I should feel guilty about it and my dad and brothers are right. I’m not gonna make it into a habit or anything.

This should not be an issue and you should not jump through hoops for an employer at the expense of your own health, mental or physical.

Nobody goes to their deathbed whiching they went to more meetings or worked more overtime hours.

A job is a thing you do so you can afford to live. It should not be your life.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow look they understand about the death of someone health and all that kind of stuff but I’m talking about taking a day off to go on a field trip.
@ElizabethBabe1994 Like I said. The experiences in your life you will remember and cherish will not be the moments spent sitting at a desk.

Don't worry about it and live your life.
