This Delta flight was piloted by a mother and daughter flight crew. Pretty inspiring. <3

Why would they be stunned? 🤔

@Quizzical horrified that the mother daughter might have a lil argument up in the air? 😅
you know that never really goes down well!

@SW-User I'm sure there must have been family piloting teams before now...
SW-User
@Quizzical mostly father and sons - i did see a documentary of one - a mother and daughter is a rarity given how few women pilots there are - plus dads and sons get along better than mothers and daughters

[c=#008099]More than you can imagine... many of them all-female crews.[/c]

@swirlie Yeah, I was kinda thinking it wasn't that unusual for this day and age.

@Quizzical @swirlie nope it's not "more than you can imagine" it's on the upswing as is for any industry regarding the sex ratio but its not like a pretty sizeable number

[c=#008099]Stop deluding yourself into visions of grandeur about women who assume roles traditionally held by males! You are deluding yourself into thinking as it was over 40 years ago for christ's sake! Back then, what you are saying in your quoted statement was true! But over 40 years has passed since women were at the stage you now speak of, AS IF that same status ratio difference applied! You are living with your head in the clouds! You are living a fantasy game with yourself! There are literally thousands and thousands of female commercial airline pilots flying for major carriers all over the world, particularly within the United States! Wake up to that fact! A woman in aviation IS NO LONGER AN ANOMALY! In fact, women doing traditional males job roles in ANY capacity, is no longer even noticed! Why do you still think its 'special'?!

Why do you insist on believing that something 'special' is happening to the female gender because two women made career choices that were traditionally male-filled over 40 years ago? Did you ever notice there are female Lawyers out there? How about bus drivers? What is it about your shallow mind that sees only gender 'specialness' which YOU have artificially imposed on their career choice? There are as many females already retired from commercial aviation as there are still actively employed! Wake up and do your research... and stop fantasizing about how special YOU must be![/c][/c]

@swirlie That was a bit harsh...

"That was a bit harsh..."

[c=#008099]Sometimes, irrational shallow-minded people need a harsh wakeup call to bring them into the 21st Century. [/c]

@Quizzical @swirlie the facts i'd like to say are there in the link i've provided - it's nice to say stuff like we aren't living the same world as we did 40 years ago anymore but since you wanted facts - i put them out there and while it's true there are thousands of female pilots now a days its still 4.4% of the total commercial airline pilots overall

i am not saying there aren't any female pilots or that it's rare - all i meant is you don't have a whole lot of female pilots and the odds of being in big commercial plane with both mother and daughter as pilots is pretty rare - in fact even the odds of any of us being in a commercial plane with a father and son combo might also be rare.

fun fact the airline with the highest percentage of female pilots in it's roster is an Indian airline, IndiGo has the highest percentage of women pilots, with 13.9%. (quoting the same report) and interestingly enough Indigo is one of the best performing airlines in the industry :)

"..father and son combo might also be rare".

[c=#008099]"Might" also be rare? Mighty white of you to reluctantly acknowledge your opposite gender operating in the same cockpit as a family of male pilots, you silly asshole! Grow up, for fuck sakes![/c]
SW-User
@swirlie that would be funny except i am actually Indian there's nothing really white about me - it's easy to be riled up and go on an accusation mode, i am just saying on what i think and that's okay isn't it? everyone can say something off their mind as long as it doesn't hurt others

@SW-User Just block the nasty bitch hon... I already did. There is NO need for her to be talking to you like this 🤗
