Went to a wedding yesterday.
Very pretty along the river at nicollete island in Minneapolis. Leaves are changing. Temperature was good. Sun was out. They simplified it. A friend did the flowers, no lengthy service, no printed materials, the dress was elegant but simple, no registry or sign in. No fancy cakes. Music was a recording. Officiating person was the grooms uncle. They created their own vows. There was an open bar, a dinner, and a dj. No throwing rice or the bouquet or driving off with cans behind the car.
So much simpler. Back in '83 when we got married the bulletines were full of printing errors. The temperature was over 100. The father of the bride didn't come ( later came out that he had abused some of the kids) so her stepfather did the honors. The friend who wanted to play the entrance song was a disaster. The sandwiches tasted like mud. But in the end we were married.
