Is black a good color for mother of the bride dress at a wedding?

Someone isn't approving much of the groom huh ? 😜 Joking haha but black usually is worn in funerals... It's classy, I love black, but it doesn't indicate a celebrating attitude.
Then if that's your option and you don't want to go shopping, I'd add some colorful detail so to not have a total black look...
