not in my opinion, but if it's black tie then it could look good depending on the style. generally the mother of the bride wears the color/s the bride chose for the rest of the wedding party.

Someone isn't approving much of the groom huh ? 😜 Joking haha but black usually is worn in funerals... It's classy, I love black, but it doesn't indicate a celebrating attitude.

If it was my wedding? Is say wear whatever you are comfortable in.
But some brides are super selfish and cares about every single detail being their way or they have a tantrum and those hates black and white dresses at their wedding so it depends what your daughter is like?

@NiftyWhite aha ok I thought you were gonna wear the black mother dress. But I personally don't think it's that important what colour, anything but white should be fine. Maybe something to match the brides maids?

@Queendragonfly I thought that was a faux pas too. Although someone else mentioned it. When I got married my mom in law wore light blue because she didn’t wanna compete with the maids
