I just watched the press conference. I know some people will say at least he's doing something. I wish he'd get a clue that he needs to ask for calm and make some attempt to unify the nation. He went off on some rambling tangents. Better late than never? Probably for his base, along with the ones that have been on the fence as to whether to vote for him again.

@SW-User We shall see if his words are just words.
@SimplyTracie They are.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@MsAnnThropy I thought so. 😖

@SW-User yeah right! I'm sure if the president asked for calm, and compassion and empathy for others, the rioters would all lay down their weapons, hug the cops, and everybody would start singing "Kum bah Yah!" And if you believe that, I have a bridge for sale, at a bargain price!

@fanuc2013 lol. Your comprehension skills weren't working when you read my comment. Reread it. I never said or suggested what you believe. Not getting enough sleep?
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
@SW-User apparently you didn't get my comment! "Calling for calm" and nice words to "unify the nation" will have about as much effect on the rioters as trying to put out a 5 alarm fire with a teaspoon! The looters are opportunists, and the demonstrators have their minds made up, it doesn't matter what anybody says if it doesn't agree 100% with their mantra!

@fanuc2013 Obviously you're looking for someone to argue with. Fine.
I never said I thought anything he said would make a difference to the people protesting, rioting, or looting. I know it won't. When I said "I wish..." I was saying I want him to act like a normal President who would make SOME ATTEMPT to unify the nation, which is the job of the POTUS, among other things. But, all he continues to do is pour salt in the wound. It's as if he's intent on keeping us divided and causing chaos. It's really quite disturbing.
I'm tired of him, and I'm tired of people on here like you looking to create an argument because they have their own agenda to fulfill. You may think he's the best thing since sliced bread. I don't. He's an idiot who believes the office of the President should be handled in the same manner as running a private company. He still believes the President isn't answerable to the American people. And if you think he gives a sh*t about you or any of his supporters, you're not only drinking his koolaid, you're swimming in it. Best of luck with that. I hope he loses by a landslide because it's the only way we're going to get that egomaniacal POS out of the White House without the use of force.

@SW-User I think you will be disappointed in November. I have said for a long time this country needs to be run like a business, and that's what's happening and I think this country will be better for it! And, for the record, I have voted for both parties over the years, I vote for the candidate not the party! Now, Trump is arrogant, and abrasive, but, we're not voting for Miss Congeniality, I want someone that is going to produce results! And, I like the lowest unemployment numbers in decades, manufacturing coming back to this country, people off government assistance, etc, etc, I could go on all day!

SW-User
@fanuc2013 The only thing we agree upon is the need to bring back manufacturing to this country. As far as voting along party lines, I never have. I used to be a Republican but I'm a registered Independent now.
If you feel that running this country needs to be run like a business, then you must have voted for Bloomberg, Steyer, or Yang in the the Democratic primary. All are very successful businessmen. They don't have the amount of failed business ventures Trump has. You didn't vote for them did you? Why? Because you're a registered Republican? And you think Trump is smarter & sharper than all of them?
Trump knows New York real estate. His knowledge of construction is limited. His knowledge of everything beyond that is negligible. A perfect recent example is his insistence that testing for Covid-19 needs to be slowed down because higher case numbers & testing rates make America look bad. How rational is that thought process? Yes, I could go on and on too but I won't because I know my words are lost on you. I'll just leave you with 2 thoughts.
1. Because of his decision to initially call the virus a hoax & not take the necessary precautions for the country from the start, along with all the lives lost, a domino effect will be affecting businesses over the next couple of years. We haven't seen the economic fallout yet but, contrary to what you stated, we are not experiencing the lowest unemployment in decades. We are currently at an unemployment rate of approximately 13.3% and it will get worse, not better, due to all the businesses that will be folding.

2. A list of his business failures: Trump Casinos, Trump Airlines, Trump University, Trump Vodka, Trump Steaks, Trump Magazine, Trump Mortgage, Trump The Game, GoTrump.com

You do know that he had complete creative control on The Apprentice, right? He was in control of what was shown to the public, and what wasn't. It was a made to order Trump propaganda machine. He's just as bad as all the old school politicians in D.C. Maybe more so. He's a dictator in the making.
I'm very afraid that you're right about his winning the election in November. If he does, get ready for the civil war that's coming. He's done an amazing job of fanning those flames. I am very fearful that as a country, we will never recover from the damage he's done.

@SW-User if you check out any business person , they have all had failures. And I am not a republican, I don't drink anybody's kool-aid. Now, as far as unemployment goes, I see new factories being built near me, and their parking lots are full! My hubby works for GM and many of the depts. in his shop are working 24/7. Chrysler is building a new Jeep plant in Detroit, and Ford was advertising for skilled trades on the radio! There is a new skilled trades school starting in Detroit, and I see "help wanted" signs all over where I live, so, I would think you will be pleasantly surprised when the new unemployment numbers come out in the next few months. I predict big gains every quarter!
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
And also, about the "civil war",I have heard that about several presidents in my lifetime, and it has never happened, and never will! All that talk is from a bunch of radicals that want their time in front of a microphone.

@fanuc2013 lol. I never stated you were a Republican.
Not every business person has had failures as you state. Most haven't. And, it's very rare for anyone to have as many failures as Trump has had. Usually, when that occurs, it means either incompetence or huckster. But, ya know, keep those blinders on about your God Trump.
Every state is experiencing high unemployment rates. That's a fact posted by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. I stated
We haven't seen the economic fallout yet Although I don't believe your area is currently experiencing such an amazing expansion at this moment in time as you are claiming, if it is, just wait. It's normal for the full effect of an economic fallout to be delayed. Bankruptcies don't happen overnight. As I stated, there will be a domino effect. Many business owners are doing whatever they can to stay afloat. So, make sure you're saving your pennies. We will be experiencing some very stormy weather in 2021 and beyond. And, if Biden pulls off a miracle & wins, the economic downturn won't be attributable to him. It will be attributable to Trump and those morons on both sides of the aisles who pushed such a terrible stimulus package through. They've completely devalued the dollar. I know people who can't get their employees to go back to work because their employees have been making more money not working.
I don't know the crowd you're running around with but, I've never heard we'll experience a civil war under any other presidency in my lifetime.
You and I will never agree. You can have the last word if you like because I won't be responding any further. I'm not interested in continuing this useless discussion with you. It's a complete waste of our time. Enjoy your life.
